Yvonne Brigman Mills

Yvonne Brigman Mills, age 84, of Black Mountain, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, January 26, 2022.

Mrs. Mills was born November 23, 1937, in Swannanoa, to the late Archie Leroy and Geneva Coffey Brigman. She was a resident of Ypsilanti, Michigan for many years and returned to Buncombe County and has lived here for the past 25 years.

Yvonne loved flowers and spending time making paper dolls with her granddaughters. She loved praise, worship and dancing with the love of her life. She also enjoyed listening to her kids sing. One of her favorite songs was “A Falling Star”, followed by “Didn’t I Walk on the Water”, and “I Can Only Imagine”. She learned to love gymnastics and football in order to watch her grandsons. She loved to watch basketball with Gene, especially when NC played KY.

Surviving are her husband of 65 years, Eugene Mills; daughters Debi Mills White, and husband Steve of Asheville and Sandy Mills Johnston and husband Joe of Black Mountain; son, Kevin E. Mills, and wife Jenn of Travelers Rest, SC; sisters; Shirley Bellers and husband Bob, Joyce Spires and husband Ivan, twins, Jean Richey, and Joan Richey and husband George; grandchildren Lauren White Hanley and husband Andrew, Lindsey White, Bryan Harris and wife Samantha, Zee Johnston and wife Shelby, Klay Johnston, Peyton Mills, Corban Mills, and Kyle McIntire; great-grandchildren, Bella, Olivia, Ellie, and JoJo Harris, Joshua and Kayden Johnston.

Her funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, February 5, 2022, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville. Reverend Jim Jackson will officiate. Burial will follow in Sky View Memorial Park, Asheville.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, February 3, 2022, at the funeral home.

Those who choose, may listen to the service on their car radio by tuning into FM 87.7, while in the parking lot of the funeral home.
