HENDERSONVILLE - Willie Mae Church Bartlett, age 90 of Hendersonville, NC entered heaven on June 30, 2026.

Willie Mae was born in Swannanoa on October 18, 1935, to Addie Moss Church and Frank Elmer Church and was the youngest of 6 children. As a young woman, Willie Mae sang in a gospel group with her family.

Willie Mae married Gerald Thomas Bartlett on August 15, 1955. Willie Mae and Gerald lived in Swannanoa and Hendersonville, NC for most of their lives. Willie Mae and Gerald had three children, Gerald “Tom” Bartlett, David Alan Bartlett and Patricia Lynne Bartlett.

Willie Mae loved numbers and even in her 80’s could remember birthdates and significant event dates for many of her family members. She worked at Christmount in Black Mountain and The Cove in Asheville, enjoyed daily walks with Gerald and playing piano by ear.

Willie Mae was preceded in death by her husband Gerald; her son, David Alan Bartlett; her son-in-law, Donald Mark Riddle; and her siblings, Clyde Church, Charles Church, Katherine Church Blanks, Edna Church and Wilma Church Green.

She is survived by her son, Gerald “Tom” Bartlett and wife Darla; daughter, Patricia Bartlett Riddle; son-in-law, Changchun Ji; grandchildren, Adam Bartlett, Aaron Bartlett and wife Kelly, Lauren Riddle, and Stephen Riddle and wife Chelsea; and 11 great-grandchildren.

A greeting of friends will be held from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m., Monday, July 6, 2026, at West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville. A private burial will be held at Sky View Memorial Park where she will be laid to rest next to her husband.
