ALEXANDER – William Guyse Spence, Jr., age 67, of Alexander, died Tuesday, January 30, 2018. Mr. Spence was born July 2, 1950, in Mobile, Alabama. He was the school administrator at Clinton Christian School for 29 years, and the school administrator for Temple Baptist School for 17 years. He loved the Lord and served Him faithfully as a member of Temple Baptist Church. Preceding him in death are his parents, Will Guyse Spence and Helen Adele Grube Spence, and brother, Kevin Spence. Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Cindy Stansbury Spence; daughters, Julie Shafran and husband Michael, Kimberly Henderson and husband Marty, Shelley Tompkins and husband Robbie; sister, Susan Healan and husband Jim; sister-in-law, Beth Spence; grandchildren, Michael, Anna, Will, and Emma Shafran; Marty, Addison, Brooklyn, and Hollyn Henderson; Caleb, Janelle, and Chase Tompkins. His funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 4, 2018, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville. Dr. Michael Shafran, Rev. Jim Healan, Pastor Randy Bray, and Pastor Duane Boyer will officiate. Burial will be in West Memorial Park, Weaverville. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Saturday, February 3, 2018, at the funeral home. Flowers are acceptable and appreciated.
