Vera Jane Jenkins Banks

SWANNANOA – Vera Jane Jenkins Banks, 69, went to be with the Lord on August 17, 2022.  She was the beloved daughter of Dot Elingburg and the late Lawrence Jenkins.

Vera was preceded in death by her brother, Jerry Jenkins.  She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Gerald “Jerry” Banks; her son, Joshua Banks; and daughter, Whitney Sanders and husband Clifton.  She is also survived by two grandchildren, Truett and Carson Sanders, whom she loved and enjoyed dearly.

Vera was active in her church as a choir director and enjoyed creating memories with family.  She was dearly loved by all those who knew her and will be remembered for her beautiful smile, love of the Lord, and the happiness she brought into everyone’s life that knew and met her. 

The family extends a special thank you to the staff of Mission Hospital and all the family and friends who have extended expressions of love and support.  We appreciate every one of you and may God bless you all.

A graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 23, 2022 in West Memorial Park, 40 Roberts Street, Weaverville with James B. Banks, Jr. officiating.  The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:00 p.m. to 2 p.m. at West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Avenue, Weaverville.
