Thomas Edwin Barnett

ALEXANDER – Thomas Edwin Barnett, age 78, passed away on Thursday, October 1, 2026. Tom was born on September 16, 1948, in Hardin, Kentucky. He was a resident of Buncombe County since 1966.

Tom served in the U. S. Army. He worked at Champion Finishing Company in Asheville. Following their parent’s death the family lived with Rev. Boyd McClaren and his wife, Virginia. He enjoyed music, reading, airplanes, vinyl records and most of all he loved his family.

He is the son of the late Charles Mitchell and Sara Ann Dillard Barnett.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Mary Kinney and Sharon Braswell; the mother of his children, Doris Sanders; sister, Laura Hall (Larry), brother, George Barnett (Amy); grandchildren, Desaree and Casie; and great grandchildren, Charlie, Mason, Nichole, Isla, and coming soon, Ian.
