Obituary

Susan B. Davis, Sue to the people who knew her, died on August 15, 2026.

Sue was an artist from childhood, when creativity first became a central part of her life. Over the years she worked in paint, clay, jewelry, and other mediums, eventually creating remarkably detailed pieces in polymer clay. She was also a voracious reader, a passionate music lover, and a person with strong opinions about the things she loved.

She loved the Beatles, Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen, books, gardens, good food, and time spent with the people in her life. She volunteered with the literacy council in Wilmington and later made her home in the Asheville area, where a good meal out was often one of the highlights of her week.

Multiple sclerosis changed much about Sue’s life, but it never completely defined her. She remained distinctly herself: curious, creative, particular, determined, and deeply connected to the people and things she cared about.

Friends are invited to a Gathering and Farewell for Sue on August 27, 2026 at Ox Creek Community Center. The space will be open from 5:00–7:00 p.m., with the service beginning at 5:30 p.m.

This will be an informal gathering centered on music, memories, and stories about Sue. Please come as you are and, if you’d like, bring a memory to share.
