ALEXANDER – Sigrid L. Bollfrahs, age 90, of Alexander, passed into the presence of her Lord on Thursday, November 4, 2021.
Mrs. Bollfrahs was born in Neu-Isenburg, Germany to the late Paul E. Simon and Maria C. Fader Simon.
At a young age, Mrs. Bollfrahs came to the United States along with her husband and baby daughter. The family settled in Chicago, Illinois for the next 33 years. Mrs. Bollfrahs was employed in the Chicago fur industry for 30 years. She also was an active member of Foster Avenue Baptist Church in Chicago.
Upon her husband's retirement, they moved to North Carolina. She later joined the First Presbyterian Church of Weaverville where she faithfully participated in many activities.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Ernst G. Bollfrahs; sister Eleonore Knopf-Cordes; brothers, Dieter Simon and Walter Simon; brother-in-law, Karl Bollfrass; and son-in-law, Roger Pollock.
Surviving are her daughters, Dorothy Kernan and husband Steve of Alexander, and Susan Pollock, of Montreat; brother, Horst Simon of Germany and sisters-in-law, Marjorie Bollfrass, of Illinois, Marianne Simon and Ruthild Simon of Germany; four nieces and one nephew.
Her memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, November 11, 2021, at First Presbyterian Church of Weaverville, 30 Alabama Avenue.
Reverend Skip Gillikin will officiate.
