Shirley Johnson Allen

WEAVERVILLE– Shirley Johnson Allen, age 79, of Weaverville, died Wednesday, November 7, 2018. Shirley was born April 26, 1939 in Yancey County and was a resident of Buncombe County for most of her life. She was preceded in death by her mother, Margaret Johnson English, and husband, Mack Allen who died in 2007. Surviving are her daughters, Barbara Metcalf and husband Jerry of Weaverville, Wilma Windsor and husband David of Marshall, and Donna Lunsford of Barnardsville; sisters, Loretta Rice, Sara Penland of Weaverville, and Vickie Rogers of Fletcher; brothers, Joe Johnson of Weaverville, Fred Johnson of SC, and Steve English of Fletcher; grandchildren, Christopher Lunsford, Anthony Williams, Brandon McMahan, Travis Metcalf and Rhonda Waldrup; great-grandchildren, Maggie, Clayton, Kynzlee, Gracelin, Dawson and Oaklin. Her funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday, November 12, 2018 in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville. Reverend Powell Young will officiate. Burial will be in Clark’s Chapel Cemetery, Weaverville. The family will receive friends 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
