Sherry Gail Calloway

Sherry Gail Calloway, age 83, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on May 9, 2024, in Statesville, North Carolina. She was born on March 10, 1941, to parents James Weldon Guffey and Kathleen Ruth Fore Guffey

Gail lived most of her life in Asheville and was a member of Locust Grove Baptist Church. She will always be remembered for her kind spirit, warm smile, unwavering love for her family, and her immeasurable love of God. She was the loving wife of the late William "Bill" Calloway. Her legacy of love and compassion will continue to live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.

In this life, Gail touched the hearts of many. She is survived by her son, Mike Calloway (Sara), her daughter, Lynn Calloway Hager (Darren), her beloved grandchildren, Ethan, Zach, Daniel, Rebecca, and Josh and one great granddaughter, Jane Elizabeth.

A Graveside Service to honor and celebrate Gail's life will take place on May 23, 2024, at Locust Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Weaverville, North Carolina. The service will commence at 11:00 AM and will be officiated by Rev. Darren Johnson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Gail’s name, to Locust Grove Baptist Church, International Mission Fund, 305 Locust Grove Road, Weaverville, NC 28787 or Samaritan’s Purse, PO Box 3000, Boone, NC  28607.
