CANDLER – Shelia Medford Emory, age 81, of Candler passed away Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at Mission Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Blaine and Lucille DeHart Medford and wife of the late Robert B. Emory who died in 2010. She was also preceded in death by brothers, Donald and David; and sister, Joann.

Mrs. Emory was born on May 21, 1944, in Buncombe County where she had lived for most of her life. Shelia and her late husband owned Bob Emory’s garage and had many friends in the garage business. Shelia was a good person, told a lot of good stories and always had a smile.

Surviving are nephews, Mark Medford and wife Christine, Adam Medford and wife, Jennifer; and grandnephews, Jacob Medford and Jessica Barker.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m., Friday, May 29, 2026, at West Funeral Home, Burial will follow at Ivy Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, Weaverville. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
