Saundra Rice Rogers

ALEXANDER – Saundra Rice Rogers, age 83, of Alexander, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at Mission Hospital.

Mrs. Rogers was born July 24, 1942, in Buncombe County where she had lived all her life. Family was very important to her as she was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved southern gospel music and sang with family. She was a teacher assistant at French Broad Elementary School and Weaverville Primary School. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church.

Mrs. Rogers was the daughter of the late Wesley and Donnie Clinton Rice. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Eulane McCurry and husband Don.

Surviving is her husband of 60 years, Garren Rogers; daughters, Michele Lloyd and husband Steve, and Cheryl Bobeng and husband Don; son, Dale Rogers and wife Kelly; sister Ann Young and husband Bob; grandchildren, Trevor Lloyd and wife Maura, Brooke Lloyd, Trent Bobeng and wife Ashley, Todd Bobeng and wife Chloe, Trey Bobeng, Sara Rogers, and Ashley Rogers.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 6, 2025, in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory, 901 Aiken Rd., Asheville, with Reverend Allen Rash officiating.

The family will receive friends the evening before the service from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Friday, September 5, 2025, at West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity Baptist Church, Building Fund, 216 Shelburne Road, Asheville, NC 28806.

The family would like to express a special thanks to the French Broad Fire Department, Sarah Shelton, and Teresa McPeters for their caregiving of Mrs. Rogers.
