SAM PEGG, SR. WEAVERVILLE – Sam Pegg, Sr., age 93, of Weaverville died Monday, October 17, 2016 at the John F. Keever Solace Center. Mr. Pegg was born May 11, 1923 in Buncombe County to the late Fred and Cora Roberts Pegg. Sam was a retired truck driver and farmer. He was member of Cedar Hill Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Frank Pegg, Bertha Hyatt, Garrett Pegg, Eugene Pegg, J.C. Pegg, and Bunie Peoples. Surviving are his wife of 73 years, Frances Browning Pegg; son Samuel C. “Butch” Pegg, Jr.; sister, Frances Robinson and husband George; grandchildren, Derrick Pegg, Damien and Darrell Sours; great grandchild, Peyton Sexton. His funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 19, 2016, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, with Reverends Harold Rash and Roy McPeters officiating. Burial will be in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends 12:30 to 1:45 p.m., Wednesday prior to the service at the funeral home. Flowers are welcome.
