WEAVERVILLE – Roland Edward Monette passed away on Monday, May 26, 2025. He was born on January 1, 1939, in Albany, GA, raised in Birmingham AL, attended Auburn Univ, Univ of Penn, and European Univ in The Hague Holland. He served 1958 to 1973 in US Marine Corps, Major (Infantry officer) in Vietnam 1966-1970. He was a Senior aerospace engineer in the US and Europe (NATO) through 1996. He was a Tennessee mountain land developer through 2012. He retired and resided in the Weaverville vicinity since 2015. He enjoyed his hobbies as a family historian, writer, and animal rescuer. He also was a portrait painter.
He was the son of the late Roland and Louise Setzer Monette. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Marilyn Anthony.
Roland is survived by his wife, Theresa Monette; daughter, Elizabeth Monette; grandchildren, Ann Rachel, Faith, Ruby and Reagan; great granddaughter, Violet; and his first wife, P. J. Watkins.
