Rodney Dale Ogle

LEICESTER – Rodney “Dale” Ogle, age 76, of Leicester, passed away on Monday, April 20, 2026, at his home.

Dale was born on September 18, 1949, in Buncombe County where he had lived all of his life. He was the son of the late Rial and Rachel Ogle and was also preceded in death by his brother, Ronnie (Carolyn) Ogle. Dale was a talented diesel mechanic, welder, and worked on trucks. He was in the 1st Calvary 2nd of 7th Delta Company during the Vietnam War in the United States Army. He was a decorated Soldier and Purple Heart Recipient. Dale loved and protected his family and always seemed to know when one had a need and secretly took care of it. His integrity, honor, and charity touched the lives of all who knew him. Dale was greatly loved during his life and will be truly missed since his death.

Dale is survived by his wife of 54 years, Barbara White Ogle who lovingly cared for him night and day of his long illness. Also surviving are two sons, James Dale “JD” Ogle and Jason (Stephanie) Ogle; and four grandchildren who he loved, Caleb, Joshua, Charity, and Joy Ogle.

Dale’s graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Friday, April 24, 2026, in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, 754 Aiken Road, Asheville, NC 28804 with Rev. Philip Wilson officiating. Burial will follow after the service.
