Robert Hunter Van Wagner

WEAVERVILLE – Robert Hunter Van Wagner, 93, passed away on Wednesday, October 25, 2023 at Solace in Asheville.

The son of the late Harold Lewis Van Wagner and Gertrude Tompkins Van Wagner, Robert was a Sargent in the Tank Corp of the US National Guard. He was a Board Member for Eliada Home and did Mission work with Salem Methodist Church helping build homes. Robert was on the Buncombe County Election Board; and participated in Train Club. He also was a Mason as well as a Shriner.

He is survived by his wife, Verna “Betty” Weaver Van Wagner; and three daughters, Judith V. Sayre, Kathy Van Wagner Kala and Sandra Van Wagner; five grandchildren, Meredith, Mallorie, Morgan, Kevin and Ryan; and five great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held privately at a later date.
