WEAVERVILLE– Richard Fredrick Stephen, age 86, of Weaverville, died January 26, 2018. Richard was born May 19, 1931 in Portland, Indiana to the late Lyman Cleveland and Almeda Elizabeth Imes Stephen. He graduated from Redkey High School in Indiana. While serving in the US Air Force he completed electronics school. He worked in mechanical construction in many states including Alaska. Richard loved driving and seeing the country, woodworking, remodeling homes, reading and visiting friends and family. He had a private pilot’s license. He is also preceded in death by his sister, Conchetta and brother, Jesse. Surviving are his wife of 66 years, Norma Jean Lloyd Stephen; son, Douglas Stephen and wife Pat; daughter, Robin Herber and husband Kevin; brother, Louis Stephen and wife Glenna; granddaughters, Michelle Mills, and Jessica Klingel; great granddaughters Shelby Witte and Kaytlynn Mills; great-great grandchildren, Jeremiah, Brettley, Mason, and Kiarrah; many special nieces and nephews. His graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 10, 2018 in Clarks Chapel Cemetery, Weaverville. Rev. Wesley Pike will officiate. The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Jackson, Dr. Black and their wonderful staffs. The family would also like to say a special thank you to Hospice for the wonderful help.
