Marie Sammons

FLETCHER – Rachel Marie Sammons, 82, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, April 10, 2024. A native of Buncombe County, she was the daughter of the late Samuel Lester Buckner and Ida Mae McHone Buckner. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Samuel Buckner and a great grandson, Marcus Landon Sammons.

Marie is survived by one daughter, Lynn Briggs and her husband, Paul, of Fletcher; two sons, Wayne Sammons and his wife, Caroline, of Weaverville and Steve Sammons and his wife, Wanda, of Candler. She is also survived by a sister, Patricia Fields and her husband, Tommy, of Weaverville; a brother, Ricky Buckner and his wife, Betty, of Weaverville; five grandchildren, Charity Talley, Michael Sammons, Krysten Blanton, Zachary Briggs and Nicholas Sammons; six great grandchildren, one great great granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.

A time to share memories with the family will be from 2:00pm until 3:00pm on Sunday, April 14, 2024 at West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville.
