Obituary

WEAVERVILLE – Peggy Black Bell, age 72, of Weaverville went to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 9, 2026.

Peggy was born on September 10, 1953, in Buncombe County where she had lived all her life. She was a 1972 graduate of North Buncombe High School. Peggy formerly worked at Connie’s Fashions and later worked at D & D Restaurant. She loved to read. Peggy attended Salem United Methodist Church. She was the daughter of the late Hardy Black, Jr. and Betty Jean Davis Whitted. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Linda Willis.

Surviving is her husband of 52 years, Dennis Bell; daughter, Carly Rose Reynolds (Nathaniel); sons, J.C. Bell, and Dennis Ray Bell, Jr. (Jackie); sister, Patty Wheeler (Bobby); brothers, Danny Black, and Billy Black; grandchildren, Tehya Bell, Kaden Follett, Trevan Follett, Haylee Bell, Cameron Reynolds, Hunter Reynolds, Maile Reynolds, and John Wilde.

Private memorial services were held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, July 13, 2026, at West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville with Rev. Robert Reynolds officiating.
