Nettie "Ann" McAbee

ASHEVILLE – Nettie “Ann” McAbee, age 76, of Asheville passed away on Monday, January 19, 2026. Born May 2, 1949, in Buncombe County, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Kathleen (Bass) Smith. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Samuel McAbee, who passed away June of 2022 after 55 beautiful years together, as well as by their son, Leslie Neil McAbee.

Ann worked side by side with Sam at their business, Sam’s Radiator, from 1981 until retiring in 2017. She loved cooking and baking for her friends and family - especially her renowned banana bread. She appreciated every day the Lord gave her, loved her husband and their family dearly, and lived true to her Baptist faith.

“Nonnie” is survived by granddaughter Casey Lynn McAbee and her fiancé Michael Cruz, of Blasdell, New York; great-grandsons Finnley Michael Moore and Berkley James Cruz; longtime friends Kevin Calhoun and Debbie Taylor.

A private service will be held in Clark’s Chapel Cemetery in Weaverville, where she will be laid to rest with her husband and son.
