Nancy Jenkins Clinedinst

    WEAVERVILLE – Nancy Jenkins Clinedinst, 86, passed away on Sunday, February 12, 2023 surrounded by her children, grandchildren and siblings.

     A native and life long resident of Buncombe County, she was the daughter of the late Dan M. and Frances Davis Jenkins. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Elwin Bruce Clinedinst, Sr. in 2006; a sister, Gladys Ducker; two brothers, Dan Jenkins, Jr. and Wayne Jenkins; and a very special grandson, Elijah B. Clinedinst.

     Nancy was a former Miss Asheville in the 1950’s. Most people would know her as a school bus driver for the Buncombe County Public Schools. She took and kept photos of each student that rode her bus.

     She loved camping with her family and they would go and camp all over the Smoky Mountains. Nancy was a member of Royal Arcanum. She was a long time member of North Buncombe First Church of God and was currently a member of the Blue Ridge Cowboy Church.

     Nancy loved and adored her grandchildren. She was also known to say that if she could’ve had grandchildren without having her children, she would’ve done it!

     She is survived by two daughters, Deborah DeBruhl and her husband, Larry, of Asheville and Frances Illen Clinedinst of Homosossa, FL; a son, Elwin Bruce Clinedinst, Jr. and his wife, Vivian, of Barnardsville; two sisters, Jane Merrill and husband, Joe, and Mary Frances Nelms and husband, Jim.

     Nancy is also survived by ten grandchildren, Katrina, Kashka, Tracey, Josh, Amber, Christian, Joseph, Lacey, Chance and Charity; and eight great grandchildren, Pippa, Isaac, Noah, Risden, Lilly, Allison, Raiden, and Silas.

     A memorial service will be held at 6:00PM on Saturday, February 18, 2023 at the Blue Ridge Cowboy Church, 49 Saxon Hill, Fairview, NC 28730. Rev. Louis Gibson will officiate. This will be a combined memorial service for Nancy and her brother, Wayne Jenkins who passed away February 2, 2023.
