WEAVERVILLE – Michael “Mike” Joseph Kovalik, age 71, of Weaverville passed away on Wednesday, September 16, 2026.

Mike was born on October 31, 1954, in Mercer County, NJ and had been a resident of Weaverville since 1993. Mike was a grocery store manager at Sav-Mor. He enjoyed working on cars and motorcycles. He was the son of the late Alexander Benjermin and Joan Cyran Kovalik and was also husband of the late Sandra “Sandy” Chamberlain Kovalik.

Surviving is his fiancé, Susan Back; daughter, Josette Plemmons (Ronald Fisher); son, Joseph Kovalik (Nellie); sister, Yvonne Lewis; brothers, Alexander Kovalik, Rick Kovalik, Russell Kovalik, James Kovalik, and Eric Kovalik; and four grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 pm, Thursday, September 24, 2026, at West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville.
