Maurice McKinley West

PALM BEACH GARDENS, FLORIDA – Maurice McKinley West, age 88, of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida passed away on Tuesday, June 3, 2025.

Maurice was born in Reems Creek, North Carolina on February 3, 1937. He was the fourth child of eight born to McKinley West and Kathleen Hampton West. When he was young the family moved to Weaverville, North Carolina. He graduated from Weaverville High School in 1955. Soon after that he met his future wife, Betty Louise McCall, whom he married on June 2, 1958. Right after the wedding they moved to West Palm Beach, Florida where they resided for the rest of their lives. Maurice worked at Pratt & Whitney for over 30 years where he worked in the plating department and later became the foreman for several departments. When he retired, he got his dream job, working at Eastpointe Country Club in the bag room. He worked there for over 25 years.

Surviving are his children, Cathy and Ken (Debra) West; sisters, Kathy Parks, Nellie Brinkley (Larry); and brother, Stewart; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, November 24, 2025, at West Memorial Park, 40 Roberts Street, Weaverville, North Carolina with Reverend Dr. Jim McCoy officiating.
