MARY “LIBBY” TESNER RICE

WEAVERVILLE – Mary “Libby” Tesner Rice, age 76, of Weaverville, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Wednesday, October 5, 2022, at Stonecreek Health and Rehab Center.

Mrs. Rice was born on February 24, 1946, in Buncombe County, where she lived all her life.  She worked at SDX Industries for ten years doing electronic repair.  She was the daughter of the late William Clyde and Florence Bradley Tesner and the wife of the late J.D. Rice, who died in 2000. She was also preceded in death by sisters, Nelle, Jean, Shirley and Frances.

She is survived by daughter, Crystal Rice and fiancé Ken Hurley; son, Darryl Rice and his wife Lora; granddaughters, Michelle and husband Russell Ball, Nicole and husband Richard McMahan; four great-grandchildren, Shelby Ball, Abigail, Beth and Jessica McMahan; and her sisters, Carolyn, Kathleen, and Irene.

Graveside services for Mrs. Rice will be 2:30 p.m., Monday, October 10, 2022, at Ashelawn Gardens of Memory, 901 Aiken Road, Asheville, with Reverend Sonia Burleson officiating.
