UPDATED SERVICE INFORMATION:
There will be a remembrance service for Martha at 4:00 pm on Saturday, May 15, 2021 at South Fork Church, 332 Ox Creek Road, Weaverville, NC 28787. Visitaiton and fellowship beforehand beginning at 3:00 pm. Weather permitting we will primarily gather outside, but for the safety and well-being of all participants, distancing and masks are still encouraged regardless.
WEAVERVILLE – Martha Clayton Hoyt, age 72, of Weaverville, died Sunday, February 14, 2021.
Martha was born February 2, 1949 in Dade County, Florida to the late George and Bonnie Denham Clayton. She earned a B.S. from Mars Hill College, and later earned her R.N, at Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College. Before her retirement, she worked as a public health nurse at the Madison County Health Department. Martha was a fiercely devoted daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and friend. She lived most of her life in service to others, caring for countless animals and people through the years as a reflection of her Christian faith.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband and the love of her life, John Albert Hoyt, Jr. who died in 1975.
Surviving are her daughters, Lenore Hoyt of Louisville, KY, and Shannon H. Binkowski of Garner, NC; her sister, Peggy Dippy and husband Ted of Weaverville; and her granddaughter, Artemis Hoyt Acampora.
The family will have a private interment at Ashelawn Gardens of Memory, 901 Aiken Road, Asheville.
A memorial gathering for friends and family is tentatively planned for May 15, 2021.
Per the NC Governor, masks are required.
