ASHEVILLE – Madge Herron Tesner, age 86, of Asheville passed away on Monday, June 2, 2025, at Mission Hospital. Mrs. Tesner was born on September 25, 1938, in Buncombe County where she had lived all her life. She was a North Buncombe High School graduate and a stay at home mom. She later worked at Square D for many years until her retirement. Madge was a devoted grandmother, caring for her grandson who affectionately gave her the treasured name “Grammy”. She was a huge Carolina Tarheels fan.
Madge was the daughter of the late Lawrence B. and Pauline Corn Herron and was also preceded in death by a brother, Gerald “Jerry” Herron; and sister in law, Judy Herron.
Surviving is her daughter, Lisa Tesner Wiegman and husband Vince; grandchild, Jacob Tristan Wiegman; sister, Ruth Herron Taylor; brothers, David Herron, Larry Herron (wife Joan), and Anthony “Tony” Herron (wife Linda); sister in law, Linda Herron; and many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Saturday, June 21, 2025, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville with the Rev. Allen Rash officiating. Burial will follow in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory.
The family will receive friends from 1:15 to 2:15 p.m., Saturday, June 21, 2025, prior to the service at the funeral home. Those attending are encouraged to wear Carolina Blue to the service.
