MABEL RIDDLE HIGGINS WEAVERVILLE – Mabel Riddle Higgins, age 90, of Weaverville died Thursday, April 13, 2017. Mrs. Higgins was born April 5, 1927 in Yancey County to the late Rabe and Grace Riddle Anglin. She was a resident of Buncombe County for most her life working, mainly in retail sales with S.H. Kress and Roses. Mrs. Higgins was a member of Carolina Baptist Tabernacle. She was wife of the late John Riddle and the late Ike Higgins. Surviving are her daughter, Lynda Smith and husband Tom of Asheville; sons, Lawrence and Larry Riddle, both of Weaverville; stepdaughter, Betty Nicely of Georgia; brother, Bill Anglin, of Michigan; 4 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. Her funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Monday, April 17, 2017, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, with Reverend Lanny Cobb officiating. Burial will be in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., Monday at the funeral home. Flowers are welcome.
