Lynda B. Sondles

Lynda B. Sondles, age 69, of Weaverville, passed away Monday, May 16, 2022, at her home.

Lynda was born June 22, 1952, in Akron, Ohio to the late Arthur L. and Pauline Slabaugh Breitenstein. She resided in Buncombe County since 2001 and was a member of Brookstone Church.

A lifelong artist, Lynda was a member of the River Arts District and the Matt Tommey group, Thriving Christian Artists. Her art began with painting and drawing and transitioned also into textiles. A notable art quilt is displayed in Patient Rehab at the Duke Medical Center.

A creative and giving person, Lynda had a musical side as well, playing the flute, guitar and piano. She shared her love of music by giving music lessons for many years. She was on the Board of Directors of New Directions Ministry and The Mustard Seed Project, assisting women with custody issues for their children.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 44 years, Mark Sondles; aunt, Dorothy Lawhun of Sugar Creek, Ohio; niece, Lindsey Chandler; nephews, Scott, Michael, Patrick and Ryan Sondles; and many cousins and dear friends from her art community.

Her memorial service will be held at 2:30pm on Friday, June 3, 2022 in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, where memories will be shared, and Lynda’s art will be displayed to enjoy.  Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
