BARNARDSVILLE – Lois Burleson Wilson, age 91, of Barnardsville passed away on Friday, April 3, 2026.

Mrs. Wilson was born on October 3, 1934, in Buncombe County where she had lived all of her life. She was a teacher having taught at Barnardsville and North Buncombe Elementary schools. She was a member of North Black Mountain Baptist Church in Barnardsville. Lois loved her grandchildren, her roses, and gardening. She was the daughter of the late Ottis and Celestia Burleson and wife of the late Charles Don Wilson to whom she was married to for 65 years and was also preceded in death by her brother, David Burleson; and sister, Mildred Banks.

Surviving are her daughters, Debra Ellis, Diana Wilson, Denise Rowell (Randy), and Donna Whitlow (Phillip); sister-in-law, Janet Burleson; grandchildren, Charles Ellis (fiancé Hannah), Sara Ellis (fiancé Travis), Joseph Rowell, Joshua Rowell, Luke Whitlow (Presley), Benjamin Whitlow, John Whitlow, and Charlotte Whitlow; and great grandchildren, Emerson and Macy Whitlow.

Mrs. Wilson’s graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 8, 2026, in Burleson Cemetery, 515 North Fork Road, Barnardsville. At other times the family will receive visitors at the home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to North Black Mountain Baptist Church, c/o Lillian Riddle, 11 Speedy Drive, Barnardsville, NC 28709.
