Lois Eury Styles Byrd

BLACK MOUNTAIN – Lois Eury Styles Byrd, 81, born on July 24, 1942, passed away on Sunday, March 24, 2024, at Highland Farms in Black Mountain. 

Lois was born in Yancey County to the late William Thomas Styles and Pansy Styles. She is also preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Edgar Byrd; and her brothers, James Monroe Styles and Leonard Styles. 

Lois attended Western Carolina University in Sylva, North Carolina, lived for a time in Asheville, and then moved back to Yancey County in 1981. Lois worked as a hairdresser for many years, building many close friendships with her clients and coworkers. Most of all, Lois was a beloved Aunt who cared for her nieces and nephews as if they were her own children and grandchildren. 

Lois is survived by two nephews, James Thomas Styles of West Asheville, and Dennis Styles of Lansing, Michigan; one niece, Sheila Rosinski of Warren, Michigan; one great-nephew, Joshua Styles of Greer, South Carolina; and one great-niece, Jessica Styles, also of West Asheville.

Lois’ memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 3, 2024, in the Chapel at West Funeral Home. Pastor Joshua Styles will officiate.
