Libby Koontz Kelly

WEAVERVILLE - It is with deep respect and heartfelt sorrow that we announce the passing of Libby Koonts Kelly, born March 21, 1942, in Lexington, North Carolina, and who departed this life on June 11, 2026, in Buncombe County, North Carolina.   A cherished resident of Weaverville for over 41 years, Libby lived a life marked by devotion to her family and the joys of simple, meaningful pursuits.

Libby was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, who exuded warmth and steadfast support to those she loved. Known for her vibrant love of flower gardening, she cultivated beauty in her surroundings as tenderly as she nurtured her family. Her home was a gathering place filled with love and encouragement, especially for her grandsons, with whom she treasured spending time.

As the perfect stay-at-home mother, Libby was always present, a constant source of encouragement and cheer at every endeavor undertaken by her children and grandchildren. Her unwavering support and presence were hallmarks of her generous spirit and profound commitment to family.

Libby was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Wesley Kelly, Sr., her son, Charles Wesley "Wes" Kelly, Jr., and her beloved parents, Lonnie Koonts and Iva Weaver Koonts. Though deeply mourned, their memories live on in the hearts of those she left behind.

She is survived by her devoted daughter, Beth Kelly, and her daughter-in-love, Jennifer Wells and her husband, Mike Wells. Her legacy also continues through her cherished grandsons: Ian Yobe, Jordan Kelly, and Jarrett Kelly. Their lives are forever enriched by her love, care, and exemplary nurturing presence.

A private service to honor Libby’s life will be held at a later date.
