Larry D. Willis

WEAVERVILLE– Larry D. Willis, age 70, of Weaverville, died Monday, May 21, 2018. Larry was born December 25, 1947 in Buncombe County and was a resident of North Augusta, SC for many years before returning to Buncombe County in 2000. He was a retired welder & pipe fitter. Larry loved racing, gardening and cars. He managed Willis Gulf in Weaverville for a number of years. He was preceded in death by his parents, William “Bill” Willis and Nell Bradley Willis Trivette, and brothers, Bobby and Russell Willis. Surviving are his daughters, Laura Willis Baird, and Angela Willis Penland of Asheville; son, Dwane Willis of Candler; sister, Linda Collins of Newport News, VA; brother, Ray Willis and wife Susan of Weaverville; grandchildren, Jessie, Justin, Haley, Ashley “Butterbean”, Jacob and Jared. The family will greet friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday May 24, 2018 with a sharing of memories at 7:00 p.m. at West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, NC.
