Larry Lee Lyda

WAYNESVILLE – Larry Lee Lyda, age 63, passed away on Friday, January 5, 2024, at Haywood Regional Medical Center in Waynesville.

Larry was born on February 13, 1960, in Buncombe County, North Carolina, and spent his life in Buncombe and Haywood Counties. He was the son of Tommy Lee Lyda and Carolyn Edmonds Lyda. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Eckerd “Doc” and Sue Phillips Edmonds, and Leonard and Edith Lyda.

Larry was a roofer for many years. He was a family guy who loved his family and his friends. He was well-liked at the VFW in Waynesville, and he loved his dog, Dumpling.

He is survived by his father and mother, Tommy Lee Lyda and Carolyn Edmonds Lyda. He is also survived by his daughter, Angela Lyda; his step-daughter, Toni Post; sister, Rene Lyda; brothers Bobby Lyda (Tonya) and Randy Lyda (April); and many aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.

Larry’s funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, January 9, 2024, in the chapel at West Funeral Home with Rev. Kent Smith officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow the funeral service in Sky View Memorial Park.
