WOODFIN – Kenneth Doyle Buckner, Sr., age 77, of Woodfin passed away on Friday, August 15, 2025, at his home.
A native of Buncombe County, he was the son of the late Doyle Moran and Louise Hollifield Buckner and husband of the late Emma Penland Buckner who died in 2021. Along with his parents and wife he is preceded in death by his daughter, Sheila Buckner; grandson, Kenny Dale Buckner III; brother-in-law, Jerry Jenes; and sister-in-law, Linda Buckner.
Mr. Buckner is survived by his sons, Kenneth Doyle Buckner, Jr., Keith Dale Buckner, Sr., and Randy Lee Buckner; brother, Roger Buckner; sisters, Linda Bechtel and husband Landon, Freida Jenes, and Willie Mae Collins and husband Buster; grandchildren, Sheila K. Buckner Mashburn and husband Chris, Kimberly K. Buckner, Keith Dale Buckner, Jr., Tiffany Buckner and Kyle Buckner; sisters-in-law, Judy Revis and Hazel Rogers; and great-grandchildren, Aiden and Kaylee McGee, Emmett and Christopher Lee Mashburn, Kenny and Faith Buckner, and a new great-grandchild on the way; and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 21, 2025, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, with Don Harrison officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:30 – 2:30 p.m., at the funeral home prior to the service. Burial will be in Clarks Chapel Cemetery immediately following the service where he will be laid to rest with his wife.
