WEAVERVILLE – Judith Ann Spangler, age 86, of Weaverville went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, July 5, 2026, at her home under Hospice care.
Mrs. Spangler was born on November 16, 1939, in Chicago, IL. She graduated from Marshall University in West Virginia where she met her husband, and earned her Masters Degree from Western Carolina University. Judith enjoyed teaching and retired in 2000 from Weaverville Elementary. She was a lifelong walker and exerciser, and a helpful person. She tended to her rose garden and was a loving and devoted wife to her late husband, who passed in 2023. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Weaverville.
Judith was the daughter of the late William Henry and Donna Sutton Nudd and wife of the late Billy Ben Spangler whom she married August 18, 1962. She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Terry Nudd, John Nudd, and Marilyn Hildebrand; and brother-in-law, Ira Herman.
Surviving is her daughter, Teresa Spangler Osgood and husband Gary Lee Fowler; sisters, Claire Nudd-Herman, and Carol Terringo and husband Don; many nieces and nephews; and her faithful friends, Linda Piatt, and Connie Callback.
Memorial services will be held at 2:30 p.m., Saturday, September 19, 2026, at First Presbyterian Church of Weaverville, 30 Alabama Ave., Weaverville, with Rev. Skip Gillikin and Deacon Al Harrell officiating. The family will greet friends following the service and friends and family are welcome at the home afterwards.
