EASLEY, SC – Joyce Ann Owen Tanner, age 81, of Easley, SC, passed away on Monday, August 31, 2026, at Stonecreek Health and Rehab in Asheville.

Ms. Tanner was born on August 28, 1945, and grew up in Balsam Grove, NC. She was a resident of Easley, SC, for most of her life and was a teacher of resource education at Concrete Elementary in Powdersville, SC. She was a graduate of Easley High School and earned her bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville and her master’s degree in education from Clemson University. She was one of nine children, a daughter of the late Conway and Lois Hall Owen and was also preceded in death by seven of her siblings. She loved to fill the house with the smells of French cooking and take long strolls at the mall.

Surviving is her daughter, Elizabeth Leigh Tanner of Weaverville, NC; and her brother, Verlin Ray Owen of Easley, SC.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to ASPCA.
