Joyce Lamb Biddix

Joyce Lamb Biddix, age 87, was called home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 18, 2024 at the Laurels of Greentree Ridge in Asheville. She was born September 10, 1936 in Shut-In, Madison County, North Carolina near Hot Springs. Joyce lived most of her life in Buncombe and Henderson Counties. She was the daughter and eldest child of Hobart Fred Lamb and Margaret Marie Martin. Grandparents were Jesse William Lamb and Ella Stephens on her father’s side and James Buchanan Martin and Hester Jane Ellenburg on her mother’s side.

Joyce was preceded in death by grandsons, Joshua Andrew and Matthew James Biddix; brothers, Ronald Lee and George Loyd Lamb; and former husband Carroll Franklin Biddix. She is survived by four children, Tim Biddix (wife Janet) of Mills River, Tony Biddix (wife Kathy) of Weaverville, Randy Biddix (wife Marilyn) of Candler, and Tammy Peek (husband Don) of Fairview; brother, Rev. James Lamb of Swannanoa; sister, Geneva Lamb of Asheville; and sisters-in-law, Virginia Lamb of Leicester and Bea Lamb of Asheville. She was the very proud grandmother of eight grandchildren, Christopher Peek, Jonathan Peek, Nicolas Peek, Carrie Peek, Rachel Bullock, David Biddix, Daniel Biddix, and Kirsten Biddix; and six great-grandchildren Aaron Peek, Elijah Peek, Chloe Peek, Elyssa Peek, Jameson Bullock and Judson Bullock.

Joyce graduated from Biltmore School in 1955 and later received an accounting degree from A-B Technical Community College. She worked at various companies throughout her career including AlphaTech, Tencarva, BorgWarner, and others.

Joyce was a devout Christian who had a personal relationship with her savior. She enjoyed studying scripture and gaining revelation. She was a prayer warrior who interceded for those around her, especially her family. Joyce was a very caring person who supported many individuals and ministries, including Child of Hope, an organization close to her heart. She enjoyed flowers, working in the garden, family history, reading, and travel, but what she loved most was time spent with family.

Joyce leaves behind a lasting legacy of faith and will be remembered as a loving and godly woman. Her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and siblings will miss her dearly but are confident that she is safely in the arms of her savior.

There will be a graveside service at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 23, 2024 at Sky View Memorial Park, 1610 Tunnel Road, Asheville. The Rev. James Lamb and Randy Biddix will officiate. Flowers can be sent to West Family Funeral Home at 17 Merrimon Avenue, Weaverville, NC.
