JOY ADAMS ASHEVILLE – Joy Adams, age 81 of Asheville died Monday, May 22, 2017. Joy was born May 19, 1936 in Buncombe County to the late Jack and Bertha Scarborough Swayngim. She lived most of her life in Buncombe County and was a graduate of U.N.C.A. with a BS in Business Administration. She enjoyed arts and crafts, reading and flower gardening. Surviving are her daughter, Tracy Mathews; sons, Roger DeWeese and Ken Adams; brothers, Jack Swayngim, Jr. and Mike Swayngim; grandchildren, Christopher Mathews, Ashley DeWeese and Alexander Adams and great granddaughter, Sarah Grace DeWeese. Her graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday, May 26, 2017 in Riverside Cemetery with Rev. Allen Rash officiating. West Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
