Jonathan Paul Shoemaker

WEAVERVILLE – Jonathan Paul Shoemaker, age 37, of Mills River, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, September 18, 2021.

Jonathan was born March 20, 1984, in Palm Beach Gardens, FL; he grew up in Florida and moved to Weaverville just before high school. He graduated from UNCA with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and also had a Teaching License.  Jonathan worked at Duke Medical Center after college and for the last several years has worked at Mission Health as a Provider Solutions Specialist.

Jonathan loved his family very much, and we loved him.  He always tried to please everybody, and never spoke badly about anyone.  He loved sports, spending weekends hanging out with his sisters, watching wrestling with his brothers, and barbecuing and smoking ribs for family. He never failed to say “I love you” whether it was by text or phone.  His mom would say “I love you more” and he would say “not possible!”  Jonathan loved being “Uncle Frogg” and just loved having fun.

Left to cherish his memory are his father, Dennis J. Shoemaker and wife Kelly, of Asheville; mother, Kimberley Martineau and husband Todd, of Canton; six siblings, Jessica Ann Ford, Melissa Ann Shoemaker, Randi Taylor Martineau, Shelli Tyler Martineau, Justin Paul Shoemaker, and Matthew Paul Shoemaker; niece, Hayden Grace Weaver; nephew, Lucas Bradley Ford; grandparents, J. Richard and Luisa Delaney; and many cousins, aunts, uncles and close friends.

The family will receive friends from 5pm to 7pm on Wednesday, September 22, 2021 at West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville.  A private family memorial service will be held and Rev. Paul Cook will officiate.

For those who desire, condolences may be offered to the family under Mr. Shoemaker’s obituary at www.WestFamilyFuneralServices.com.
