Jo Sharpe Burrell

BARNARDSVILLE - Jo Sharpe Burrell, aged 95, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, in her cherished hometown of Barnardsville. Born on May 27, 1931, in Buncombe County, Jo spent her entire life in the community she loved.

Throughout her career, she contributed her skills to American Enka Corp., Cheney Bigelow, and Hadley’s of Weaverville. Jo was a devoted daughter to the late Paul and Nannie Harwood Sharpe. She shared 54 beautiful years of marriage with her late husband, William “Burnus” Burrell. She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Effie King, Dorothy Sharpe, Sam Sharpe, and Houston Sharpe.

She leaves behind her beloved daughters, Betty Dudley and Gail Edmonds (Craig); and her son, Carrol William Burrell, along with five grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 7, 2026, at West Memorial Park in Weaverville.
