Jerry Herron

WEAVERVILLE - Gerald Duane Herron, “Jerry”, age 70 of Weaverville, NC passed away in his home Saturday January 15th, 2022.

He is survived by his loving wife Linda Crawford; his daughters, Jodie, Jess, Jacki and Jamie; his son Judson; 10 grandchildren; sisters, Madge and Ruth; brothers, David, Larry and Tony; and his many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Pauline Herron of Weaverville, NC.

Jerry served in the US Navy 1971-1975, became a pastor in 1983, and traveled all over the western part of North Carolina building churches, preaching at tent revivals, and teaching the word of God. In his younger years, he enjoyed coon hunting, fly fishing and singing with the Barber Shop Quartet.

He was a die-hard Tarheels fan, and in his honor, his daughters request that the family and friends attending services wear Tarheel shirts/colors instead of formal funeral attire.

A memorial service and celebration of Jerry’s life will be held at 2:00PM on Saturday, January 22, 2022 at Swannanoa Free Will Baptist Church. The family will receive friends starting at 1:00PM at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Swannanoa Free Will Baptist church in memory of Jerry.
