Jerald Franklin "Frank" Ramsey

ASHEVILLE – Jerald Franklin “Frank” Ramsey, age 85, of Asheville passed away on Friday, June 20, 2025.

Frank was born on September 22, 1939, in Buncombe County where he had lived all of his life. He was a 1957 graduate of Erwin High School and served 4 years in the United States Navy. Frank was an engineer for Norfolk Southern Railroad for 40 years. He was a Christian man who enjoyed golfing, dixieland jazz, and Statesman Quartet. He also enjoyed taking cruises with his wife Jane and enjoyed life and laughter with all who knew him.

Frank was the son of the late Wesley Carl and Cora Davis Ramsey and was also preceded in death by his sister, Stella Burleson; and grandson, Jacob Fair.

Surviving is his wife of 40 years in July, Esther Jane Tweed Ramsey; sons, Jim “Randy” Fair (Sabrina), Donnie Fair (Diane), and Tommy Fair (Donna); sister, Mary Helen Jones; grandchildren, Krystina, Taylor, Zachary, Rachel, Brittany, and Annabelle; and great grandchildren, Ruby, Scarlett, Dalton, Jacob, Houston, and Millie.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, June 25, 2025, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville with the Rev. Garry Rogers officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, 3523 Bend of Ivy Rd., Marshall, NC 28753 with Military Honors rendered.

The family will receive friends from 12:15 to 2:15 p.m., Wednesday, June 25, 2025, prior to the service at the funeral home.
