MARSHALL – James “Jim” Henry Hop, age 80, of Marshall passed away on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at the Solace Hospice Center in Asheville. His family was by his side as they were all throughout his 20 year battle with cancer.
Jim was born on June 6, 1945, in Patuxent, Maryland. After moving many times as his father served in the US Navy, he spent his teen years in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Jim proudly served in the US Marine Corps. He ran Hops Carpet Cleaning while settled in Margate, Florida, and retired to Marshall in 2014. Jim loved Harley motorcycles, football and fishing.
He was the son of the late Harvey Nathan and Miriam Wilde Hop and was also preceded in death by his brothers, Harvey and Bruce Hop.
Surviving is his wife of 42 years, Jill Globis Hop; son, Bryan Abbajay and wife Michele; grandchildren, Natalie and Bradyn Abbajay; sister, Jon Lee Finnegan; brother, Karl Hop and wife Lane; and several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be planned for a later date.
