Irma Opheim Johnson

Irma Opheim Johnson, age 104, passed away on Saturday, May 25, 2024 at the Elizabeth House Hospice.

Irma was born on December 20, 1919 in Foreston, Minnesota. She lived each day with optimism, joy, and gratitude. She was a gracious woman who was beautiful on the outside but even more beautiful on the inside. People gravitated to her. Irma had a fun sense of humor and her smile and laugh were genuine. She had a true zest for life. She was gracious and inclusive to all, making sure everyone felt loved.

Irma was wise, understanding, generous, gentle, and kind. Most of all, she was the most loving and devoted mother, wife, aunt, grandmother (Nana) and a faithful Christian. She will be truly missed by everyone she has come into contact with. She will be in our hearts forever.

She is preceded in death by her husband, W.L. “Mike” Johnson; sons, James W. Johnson and David A. Johnson; son-in-law, William Rapchak; parents, Haakon and Minnie Warnes Opheim; and brothers, Harlan Opheim and Howard Opheim.

Irma is survived by her daughter, Barbara J. Rapchak; daughter-in-law, Dr. Resa Johnson; brother, Earl Opheim; grandchildren, Tara Kornblum (Josh), David Johnson (Gabby), Arik Johnson (Alana), Jonathan Rapchak (Krystle) and Alyssa DeMartini (David); great-grandchildren, Caleb and Noa, James and Jack, Willa, Lane, and Torin; and many nieces and nephews.
