Ida Phillips Stewart

WEAVERVILLE – Ida “Tootsie” Phillips Stewart, age 86, of Old Stewart Road, died Friday, January 19, 2018. Ida was born November 24, 1931 in Buncombe County to the late Ernest Ray and Ethel Lola Masters Phillips; being the youngest of ten children. Ida was a homemaker and a member of Trinity Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Robert Stewart who died in 1999; son, David R. Stewart and her nine siblings. Surviving are her daughter, Linda Herron and husband Tony; son, Joe Stewart and wife Susan; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren. Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 23, 2018 in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville. Reverends Larry Coates and Allen Rash will officiate. Burial will be in West Memorial Park, Weaverville. The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, January 22, 2018 at the funeral home. At other times, the family will be at the residence.
