Hilda West Carson

HILDA WEST CARSON BARNARDSVILLE – Hilda West Carson, age 93, of 608 Dillingham Road, died Monday, May 22, 2017. Hilda was born in Haywood County on June 27, 1923, to the late Walter W. and Mary M. West. She was a Buncombe County resident for over 70 years. Also preceding her in death were her husband, Taylor “June” Carson; son, Jimmy Carson and brother, James West. Hilda was a member of Dillingham Presbyterian Church where she sang in the choir till declining health kept her from attending. Hilda was active in the Big Ivy Community Club for 30 years and was Buncombe County Woman of the Year in 1997. Survivors include daughter, Gail Saye and husband, Ernie of Barnardsville; sister, Eloise Greenwood of Asheville; grandsons Jim Saye of Barnardsville and Stuart Saye of Weaverville. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 24, 2017 in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, with Rev. Joseph Willis officiating. Burial will be in West Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. prior to the funeral service at the funeral home.
