Obituary

ASHEVILLE – Hilda Clearene Anderson, age 61, of Asheville passed away on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at Mission Hospital surrounded by her family.

Hilda was born on October 4, 1964, in Buncombe County where she lived all of her life. Over the years she had children who blessed her with grandchildren that upheld her as the matriarch of the family. She was dedicated to her family, loved being helpful to them, and also cared for her parents. Hilda had an eye for the beauty of nature that God created. She had a well-developed green thumb and could grow just about anything. We will always remember her love of flowers and think of her when we see them in purple, her favorite color. Her favorite catchphrase was “I got this”, which showed how she always maintained a positive attitude and persevered through life’s challenges.

She was a daughter of the late Clearance and Helen John Webb Anderson and was also preceded in death by a son, Jonathan Craig; brother, Charles Anderson; and a granddaughter, Scarlet.

Left to cherish her memory is her significant other, Eddie Webb; children, Jamie Long, William Hensley, Eli Webb, Mike Webb, and Ryan Webb; grandchildren that she loved and raised like her own children, Carson Webb, Bryon Snellgrove and Chloe Burris; sisters, Maeola Boone (James), and Jessie Hensley (J.R.); brother, Jackie Anderson (Colleen); and longtime friend, Myra Brooks Freeman.

The family will gather privately, per Hilda’s wishes. They greatly appreciate your kind words and messages of support that can be offered at her obituary page. West Funeral Home is honored to be assisting the Anderson family.
