Hazel Edwards Worley

WEAVERVILLE – Hazel Edwards Worley, age 99, of Weaverville, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 29, 2020.

Mrs. Worley was born March 21, 1921 in Madison County to the late Ed and Geneva Hensley Edwards; she resided in Buncombe County most of her life. She loved the Lord and was a dedicated member of Salem United Methodist Church.  Hazel was a devoted mother, grandmother and friend.  She will be missed by all who knew her.  In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by 12 siblings.

Surviving are her daughter, Judy Fisher and husband Gerald of Weaverville; sons, Luther Worley and wife Brenda of Fletcher, and Jerry Worley of Winston Salem; five grandchildren, Mitchell Fisher and wife Diane, Tracy Worley and wife Jill, Darlene Carver and husband Brian, Holly Worley, Ethan Worley and wife Amanda; and five great grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the Brian Center Weaverville for the great care and friendship over the past six years.

Hazel’s funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 2, 2021 in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville. Reverend Kent Smith will officiate. Burial will follow in Clark’s Chapel Cemetery, Weaverville.

For those who wish to pay their respects, Mrs. Worley will be available for viewing from 9:00 a.m. – 10:45 a.m. Saturday, prior to the service.  The family will not be present until service time.

Per the NC Governor, masks are required.  Those who choose, may listen to the service on their car radio by tuning into FM 87.7 while in the parking lot of the funeral home.
