Harold Wayne Mattison

WEAVERVILLE - Harold Wayne Mattison of Weaverville, NC, passed away Sunday, January 28, at the age of 80. He was born April 11, 1937 in Independence, Kansas, and went on to become a seasoned world traveler during his 29-year career with IBM. After a successful heart transplant in 1994, Harold retired in Weaverville. He was an active member of St. Eugene Catholic Church and the Asheville Community Band, for which he played the trombone. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mary; his older sister, Elaine; three sons, Christopher, Parnell, and Tim; two daughters Karen and Paula; and five grandchildren – Collin, Kaitlin, Sarah, Riley, and Megan. A memorial service will be held Monday, February 5, 2018 at 2:30 PM in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Avenue, Weaverville, NC 28787, with Father Pat Cahill officiating.
