Gloria Becerra Avalos

WEAVERVILLE – Gloria Becerra Avalos, age 52 of Weaverville, passed away at home surrounded by family, Wednesday, March 22, 2023 after bravely fighting a year long battle with cancer. 

Gloria was born on March 28, 1970, in Mexico to Guadalupe Rodriguez Flores and the late Jose Guadalupe Avalos Altamirano.  She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister.

Gloria is survived by her mother, Guadalupe Rodriguez Flores; husband, Ismael Becerra Milian; daughters, Cynthia Gutierrez and husband Pedro; Jessica Macias and husband Pascual; Kimberly Becerra and husband Jesus Rodriguez; and son Ismael Becerra Jr.; grandchildren, Ulysses Gutierrez, Valeria Gloria Gutierrez, Maximiliano Macias, Elias Macias, Pascual Macias III, and Sebastian Rodriguez; also surviving Gloria are eleven siblings; as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews. 

 The family will have a prayer vigil from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 2, 2023 at West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Avenue, Weaverville.  A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, April 3, 2023, at St. Eugene Catholic Church, 72 Culvern Street, Asheville, NC 28804.  Burial will take place at West Memorial Park on Tuesday, April 4, 2023 at 2:30pm.
