GERALD CLYDE ROGERS WEAVERVILLE – Gerald Clyde Rogers, age 68, of Dula Springs, died Monday, June 5, 2017. Mr. Rogers was born July 21, 1948, in Buncombe County. Gerald was a U.S. Army Veteran serving during the Vietnam War. He was the son of the late Gus and Nellie Colley Rogers and was preceded in death by sisters, Betty and Ruby Penland, Linda Doan, Louise Jenkins and Mary Ann Parham; brothers, Frank, Don, Harold, Roy and Thurman Rogers. Surviving are his daughter, Kimberly Rogers; son, Brian Gerald Rogers; sister, Esther Robinson; grandchildren, Abby Rogers, Sabastian Rogers, Phoenix Bailey and Paris Bailey; two great-grandchildren, Oliver and Indigo; his best friend, Leonard Searcy. His funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 13, 2017 in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, with Reverends Lanny Cobb, Larry Rogers and Michael Penland officiating. Burial will be 12:00 noon in Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. At other times, the family will be at the residence. Flowers are welcome.
